Private charter, your day, your way

Hunter Valley bus hire done properly.

When you want the whole group together, on a premium bus, with someone reliable behind the wheel, that is what we do. Urban Legends has been running private charters to the Hunter Valley from Sydney since 2016, on our own modern NSW fleet of 14, 18, 27 and 41-seat coaches.

This is pure charter. You get the luxury bus and a professional driver, door to door, and the day runs to your schedule. Book your own cellar doors, restaurant or venue and we will get everyone there and home safe, or hand us a rough plan and we will help shape the run. No one stuck as the designated driver, no two-car convoys, no one missing the good part.

The Hunter Valley is roughly two hours north of Sydney, so a charter is priced as a full day with the run up and back built in, not a short transfer. Weekday full days start at $1,450 for the 14-seater and every rate is published on this page. Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays carry a floor rate instead, which is also published.

Want us to organise the whole experience with tastings, lunch and a guide locked in? That is a guided tour, not a charter. Browse our Hunter Valley wine tours or brewery tours instead. Getting married in the Valley? Jump to Hunter Valley wedding transport further down this page.

Whatever the occasion, email Jared with your date, headcount and pickup, and your all-in quote is back to you within 24 hours.

Weekend and public holiday rates work as a minimum for any Hunter Valley charter, whatever the hours, because the coach is committed from our depot and back regardless of how much of the day you use. Distance is already included in these numbers. A four-hour Saturday wedding shuttle and an eight-hour Saturday wine run start from the same place.

The wider Hunter

More than the vineyards.

The Hunter is a region, not one village. Our coaches run the whole of it, and the same day rate covers the lot because the distance charge is a single flat figure for the region.

Pokolbin & Lovedale

The wine district

The cellar-door heartland and where most charters spend the day. Broke, Rothbury and Mount View sit in the same run, all within about fifteen minutes of each other.

Port Stephens

Nelson Bay & Shoal Bay

Corporate offsites, wedding-guest shuttles and group weekends up the coast. We charter Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay, Anna Bay and Fingal Bay, and pair a Port Stephens stay with a Hunter Valley day on the same booking.

Newcastle

City, harbour & airport

Airport runs, harbour venues, conference transfers and stadium nights. Newcastle sits in the same distance band as the Valley, so the rate does not change.

Maitland & Cessnock

Gateway towns

Where a lot of Hunter weddings actually stay. Handy for a shuttle loop between accommodation and a Pokolbin venue without a long positioning run.

From Sydney

About two hours

The most common start. We collect from home, hotel or office anywhere in the metro, run the day, and have everyone back the same night.

From the Central Coast

About an hour

Gosford, Terrigal and Erina pickups. The shortest run to the Valley of any of our origin points, and a common wedding-guest route.

Wedding transport

Getting everyone there, and home again.

A Hunter Valley wedding almost always means guests spread across Pokolbin, Cessnock, Maitland and a few Airbnbs nobody can find. A coach solves it in one line item: one pickup loop before the ceremony, one run home at the end, and nobody weighing up whether they are under the limit.

  • Guest shuttle loops between accommodation and the venue, repeated as many times as the timing needs
  • A separate bridal-party vehicle where you want the wedding party moved on its own schedule
  • Late finishes covered, with the after-10pm run built into the quote rather than sprung on you
  • One invoice, one contact, and a driver who has run the Pokolbin venue roads before

Wedding pricing works off the same day rates above. A shuttle that idles between the ceremony and the reception is capped at the full-day rate, so a long day with gaps never prices higher than a straight full day plus any late-night surcharge.

How much does it cost to hire a bus to the Hunter Valley from Sydney?
Charter is priced per vehicle as a full day, with the run up from Sydney and back already built in. On a weekday it starts at $1,450 for the 14-seater, $1,575 for the 18-seater party bus, $1,700 for the 27-seater, $1,950 for the 41-seater coach and $2,300 for a 57-seater. The $400 distance charge for the trip to the Valley is already inside those numbers and is charged once per bus per day, not per leg. Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays work off a floor rate instead, from $1,500 for a 14-seater up to $2,200 for a 41-seater, and that floor already includes distance too. Every rate is published on this page. Email Jared with your date, group size and pickup for an exact all-in quote, back to you within 24 hours.
Why is a Saturday more expensive than a weekday?
Because the coach is committed from our depot and back regardless of how much of the day you actually use. A Hunter Valley run is roughly two hours each way, so once positioning, your service and the return are added up the bus is gone for eight hours or more whether you booked four hours or eight. That is why weekend and public holiday charters work off a floor rate rather than an hourly calculation, and why a four-hour Saturday wedding shuttle and a full Saturday wine run start from the same number. On a weekday the standard rate applies and a genuine half day is cheaper.
Do you cover Port Stephens and Newcastle as well?
Yes. Port Stephens, Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay, Anna Bay, Newcastle city and the airport, Maitland and Cessnock all sit inside the same service area and the same distance band as the Hunter Valley, so the day rate does not change between them. We regularly run corporate offsites and wedding-guest shuttles up to Port Stephens, and pair a Port Stephens stay with a Hunter Valley cellar-door day on one booking. Tell us both ends of the trip and we will build the loop.
What size bus do I need for my Hunter Valley group?
Up to 14 guests take the 14-seater Mercedes Sprinter, 15 to 18 the 18-seater party bus, 19 to 27 the 27-seater executive coach and 28 to 41 the 41-seater luxury coach. Bigger than that, we combine vehicles or bring in a 57-seater, and multiple coaches cover groups up to about 200. Every seat count above is the real usable capacity, not a squeeze: we quote the next size up rather than fit a group in tight, and it is worth checking the rate ladder before you decide, because moving up a size is often a smaller jump than people expect. Tell us your final headcount and we will match the right bus.
Can you just drive us to wineries we have already booked?
Yes. Pure charter is exactly that. You book your own cellar doors, breweries, restaurant or venue, and we provide the luxury bus and driver to get your group there and home safely, on your schedule. If you would rather we organise the whole day with tastings, lunch and a guide booked in, see our guided Hunter Valley wine tours and brewery tours instead.
Do you do Hunter Valley wedding bus hire?
Absolutely. Wedding guest shuttles between accommodation, ceremony and reception are one of our most requested Hunter Valley charters. We run multiple vehicles for big guest lists, handle late-night return runs and keep everything on a tight schedule so no one is left waiting. Wedding pricing runs off the same published day rates, and a shuttle that idles between the ceremony and the reception is capped at the full-day rate, so a long day with gaps never costs more than a straight full day plus any after-10pm run. See Hunter Valley wedding transport above, or email for a firm quote.
Where do you pick up from for a Hunter Valley charter?
Door-to-door, anywhere you like. We collect your group from home, a hotel, the office or your Hunter Valley accommodation across Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle, Maitland or Pokolbin and Lovedale. One price, door to door, and no one stuck as the designated driver.
Can we bring our own drinks and food on board?
On a private charter, BYO drinks and snacks on board are welcome by arrangement, just ask when you book. Our vehicles have Bluetooth, climate control and USB charging so you can run your own playlist. Note there are no toilets on board, so we plan comfort stops into longer runs.
How far ahead should I book a Hunter Valley bus charter?
The earlier the better, especially for Saturdays, long weekends and the spring and summer wedding and event season, when the fleet books out fast. That said, we will always try to help last minute. Email your date and we will tell you what is available straight away.
Do you do one-way transfers, airport runs or multi-day charters?
Yes to all three. We do one-way drop-offs, Sydney and Newcastle airport transfers, and multi-day charters where the bus and driver stay with your group across a weekend away. Multi-day bookings get a discounted day rate. Email with your plan and we will build the quote around it.
On the map

Where your charter rolls.
