Marrickville alone packs more craft breweries into a few square kilometres than anywhere else in the country, which is the whole reason this tour works. Because the taprooms sit within a few minutes of each other, a five-hour day gets you three breweries and a proper lunch instead of three hours on a bus. What an Inner West brewery tour actually costs.
A private Inner West brewery tour in Sydney costs between $135 and $370 per person, and where you land depends almost entirely on how many of you there are. The three-brewery day with lunch is $159 per person for a group of 20 or more, $169 from 14 to 19, $190 from 7 to 13 and $240 for a group of four to six. Every one of those prices already includes the bus, the guide, all tasting fees and lunch. The cheapest way onto the trail is lawn bowls plus two breweries at $135 per person for 50 or more; the dearest is go karting for a group of five at $330 per person, because a private track booking costs the same whether five people or fifty turn up.

Clean, sessionable and seriously decorated. The XPA is the crowd favourite, poured in a slick taproom with a private rooftop upstairs for groups that want it.
Sauce Brewing Co
Adventurous and hop-forward, with a big rotating tap list of hazy IPAs and experimental brews. Take the paddle or two wines by the glass, both are included.
The Grifter Brewing Co
Bold, fun and unmistakably Inner West. Home of the Pink Galah watermelon ale and a big, lively taproom that swallows a full bus without blinking.
Batch Brewing Co
The original. Marrickville's first craft brewery, pouring its much-loved American Pale Ale and West Coast IPA out of a cracking little taproom.
Wayward Brewing Co
A big warehouse brewery bar known for its sours, Belgian styles and the Charumati IPA. Plenty of room to spread out and settle in for a while.
Pickled Monkey Brewing Co
One of the newer rooms on the Marrickville run and a good change of pace between two bigger taprooms.
Yulli's Brews
Just off the Inner West proper and worth the short run. Plant-based kitchen alongside the beer, which suits a group with a mixed set of dietaries.
BrewDog South Eveleigh
A cavernous room inside the restored Locomotive Workshops. The easiest venue on the list for a large corporate group that wants space and a full menu.
Archie Rose Distilling Co
Australia's most awarded distillery, home of signature dry gin, vodka and single malt whisky. Swap a brewery for a spirits flight, a gin blending session or a reserved upstairs room.
Lunch usually lands at a brewery kitchen or a food truck on site. When a group wants to sit down properly we use Mary's or Rising Sun Workshop in Newtown, or the Tramsheds precinct at Forest Lodge.
Put something between the breweries.
Five of the eight tours on this page pair the taprooms with something to do: axe throwing at Maniax in Marrickville, barefoot bowls at the Marrickville Bowling Club, ten pin lanes, or an exclusive go-kart track booking for your group only.
