Planning a hens party

Hens party ideas that actually run to time.

Our hens party packages cover nine regions across New South Wales and Queensland, from a Hunter Valley wine day to a Sydney Harbour yacht, a Wollongong brewery run or a Byron Bay weekend. Every one of them comes with a private coach and a professional driver, so nobody in the group is the designated driver and nobody is counting heads in a car park.

Most people planning a hens party are doing it for the first time, usually from another state, usually in a group chat with eleven other opinions in it. If you are still collecting classy hens party ideas, we have written up the ones that actually work. The hard part is not picking a winery, though. It is the order of the day: what time to start, how long each stop actually takes, and how to get twelve people between them without losing three of them.

That is the bit we do. Tell us the date, the group size and roughly what the bride is into, and we will tell you which tour fits or quote the bus if you have already sorted your own venues. Once your date is locked in, the full run sheet lands and you can swap anything you do not like. Wineries for breweries, a long lunch for a cocktail class, the whole day for a boat.

Already sorted your own venues and just need the transport? That is our hens party bus hire, and it is the cheapest way to do this properly.

Closest to home

Sydney Hens

Lawn bowls, a rooftop bar, a cocktail class, an Inner West brewery run or all four in one day. The most flexible hens day we run, and the easiest to build around a group flying in the night before.

The classic

Hunter Valley Hens

Four cellar doors, a grazing lunch and a chocolate or cheese stop on the way home. The one most groups picture when they say hens weekend, and the only region where you can add a second night without moving hotels.

A hens party group at a South Coast escarpment lookout on an Urban Legends hens party tour South Coast · 1 hr 30 south
Coast and escarpment

Wollongong & South Coast

The Sea Cliff Bridge, a lookout stop the photos are worth the drive for, then breweries or the Berry wineries. Quieter than the Hunter and about half the drive.

A group on a Southern Highlands wine tour at a vineyard near Bowral Southern Highlands · 1 hr 30
Cool climate

Southern Highlands

Bowral, Berrima and Mittagong. Cool climate wineries, a gin distillery and the best long lunch in the state, in a region that still feels like a secret compared to the Hunter.

The big one

Yacht Charters

Your own boat on Sydney Harbour with a skipper, a swim stop and catering if you want it. The most photographed hens day we do, and easier to organise than most people expect.

An Urban Legends group on a Gold Coast brewery tour Brisbane & Gold Coast · Full day
Queensland

Brisbane & Gold Coast

Tamborine Mountain wineries, a Brisbane brewery run or a boat day off the Broadwater. We run Queensland with the same drivers and the same run sheets, so it works the way our NSW days work.

A hens party group on a Byron Bay hens party tour with Urban Legends Byron Bay · Weekend
Coastal weekend

Byron Bay

Stone & Wood, the lighthouse walk, a hinterland winery and a beach the group will not want to leave. Byron is a weekend rather than a day, and we move you between all of it.

You have picked the winery, booked the lunch and locked the accommodation. You just need everyone moved between them safely. Private charter, your itinerary, our driver.

True on every hens party we run, in all nine regions

Door to door pickup and return, not a meeting point
Your own coach and professional driver for the day
A written run sheet with real times on it

On package days we book the venues, the tastings and the lunch for you. On charter days you book your own venues and we handle the transport only, which is the cheaper way to do it if your group has already decided where it is going. Water is not included on any vehicle and can be added for $50 per day per vehicle. A $200 deposit secures your date, with the balance due seven days before the day. Cancellations 14 or more days out are refunded in full, 7 to 13 days out are refunded at 50%, and inside 7 days are non refundable. Date changes 7 or more days out are free, subject to availability.

How it works

It depends who is booking the venues.

Two different processes, and it is worth knowing which one you are in before you start. If we are organising the day, you book first and we build the itinerary around you. If you have already organised it and just need the bus, we quote first.

Tour packages

If we organise it

You want the venues, the tastings and the lunch sorted for you. Book the tour, then we build the day around your group.

  1. 1Book your datePick your tour and pay the deposit. That holds the date and the vehicle, which is the bit that actually runs out. Live per head pricing is on each tour's booking page.
  2. 2We send your itineraryOnce the deposit is in, you get the full run sheet: every venue, every time, and what is included at each stop.
  3. 3You change what you wantSwap a winery for a distillery, move the pickup, add a stop, drop the lunch. Most groups change something. Send it back and we rebuild it.
  4. 4We confirm every venueWe do the booking and the chasing, then send the final run sheet. Balance and final numbers are due seven days before the day.
Charter

If you organise it

Venues booked, lunch sorted, accommodation locked in. You need a bus and a driver, so we price it before anything else happens.

  1. 1Send us your planDate, group size, pickup point and where you are going. Rough is fine. If the numbers are not final, say so and we will price a range.
  2. 2We quoteA written quote by email, usually the same day, with the vehicle options priced side by side. Valid for 30 days.
  3. 3Happy? Pay the depositThe deposit holds the date and the vehicle. Balance due seven days before, or in full if you are booking inside seven days.
  4. 4We run your dayYour driver works to your itinerary, door to door. You do not have to hand over the plan, just the driving.

Deposits start at $200 and hold your date; multi vehicle bookings are $500. Not sure which side you are on? Tell us what you have already booked and we will tell you which one is cheaper for your group, rather than selling you the package by default.

Before you ask

Hens party questions, answered straight.

What do people actually do on a hens party?

Wine tours are the most booked by a distance, but plenty of groups do none of that. Lawn bowls, a cocktail making class, paddle boarding on the harbour, a scavenger hunt or a boat day all work. We have written up the ones that hold up in our classy hens party ideas and Sydney hens party ideas guides.

How much does a hens party bus cost?

It depends on the group size, the region and how long you need the vehicle, so we quote every hens party individually rather than publishing one number that would be wrong for most groups. Send us your date, your headcount and your rough plan and you will have a written quote back by email, usually the same day.

How many people do you need for a hens party?

There is no minimum. We run hens parties for groups of four and groups of two hundred. Smaller groups pay a higher per head rate simply because the vehicle and driver cost the same either way, so a group of six will always be better value than a group of four.

Do you book the venues, or do we?

Either way works. On a package day we book the cellar doors, the tastings and the lunch for you and send a run sheet with it all confirmed. On a charter day you book your own venues and we handle transport only, which costs less if your group has already decided where it is going.

Can we drink on the bus?

On a charter, yes, with written approval from us first, so ask when you book rather than assuming. On a package tour, no: BYO is not permitted because the tastings and drinks are already included at the venues. Either way, tell us in advance and we will confirm it in writing.

What if some of the group does not drink?

We plan for it rather than working around it. Non drinkers and pregnant guests are on most hens parties we run, and every venue we use has something worth ordering that is not alcohol. Tell us the numbers when you book and we will factor it into the venues and the timings.

How far ahead should we book a hens party?

Six to eight weeks is comfortable for most dates. Saturdays between October and April book out furthest ahead, so if the hens party is on a Saturday in that window, get the date held early. A $200 deposit secures it and the balance is not due until seven days before.

Do the buses have toilets?

No, none of our vehicles have onboard toilets. Every itinerary we write builds in stops often enough that it has never been a problem, and your driver will always pull over if the group needs it. Water is not included as standard and can be added for $50 per day per vehicle.
Where we go

Hens parties across the east coast.

Own fleet through New South Wales, trusted operators in Queensland. Pickups are door to door in every region below.

Not on the list? We still probably cover it. Canberra, the Central Coast, the Blue Mountains and most of regional New South Wales are all within reach, and Queensland runs through operators we have used for years. Tell us where you are starting and we will tell you straight away whether we can do it.

Good Vibes Only

Tell us about her.

Send us the date, the group size and what the bride would actually enjoy. If you have already booked your own venues we will quote the bus. If you want the day organised for you, we will tell you which tour fits and what it costs. Either way you get a straight answer by email, usually the same day.

Quotes are valid for 30 days. A $200 deposit secures your date, with the balance due seven days before the day. Cancellations 14 or more days out are refunded in full.
